On December 24, students from Shenzhen Experimental Chenghan School (International Curiculum Experimental Campus) went to a Elephant Conservation base in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to carry out volunteer activities. The base pays attention to the protection of elephant nature. All elephants can move freely and provide them with considerate care and adequate food.

Under the leadership of teachers and the staff, students not only has close contact with the elephant, but also learned about the base and the origin of elephants, remembered their names and origins, and learned how to feed elephants correctly and safely to get along with elephants.

After feeding, our students led the elephant to walk in the camp and enjoy the beauty of nature. Then, Singaporean Chinese international volunteer teacher Xia explained the elephant's life habits for our students and learned about how to make elephant herbs.

Teacher Xia demonstrated how to make elephant herbs and understand their ingredients.

Planting elephant grass and conserving fields, helping to unload elephant food (elephants need 200-300 kilograms of food a day), and feeding elephants

The weather in Thailand is very sunny. In the hot sun, they wear the uniforms and began to plant elephant grass to prepare for the elephant's food.

By participating in this volunteer activity, students could understand the different cultural customs in different countries,  expanded their cultural experience, enhance their language skills in different environments, and enrich their own life experience and broaden their horizons. Most importantly, students can strengthen the spirit of teamwork from the practice.
